I've been saying for a while that diesel is the way forward CLICKY but if you can afford 60k for a car then you can probably afford the running costs

Quite a lump...

Personally, I'd take the "60mpg" bit with a very large pinch of salt, since large Beemers, Audis etc get nowhere near that. I know they are heavier, but 6.6 litres, and still returns 60mpg? Come on, they're having you over?

60mpg is at 56mph though, is there any chance at all that you would be able to restrict yourself to just 56mph in this machine, i doubt it very much, good sales pitch though

In all honesty, what is the point of performance like that on today's overcrowded and inferior roads? Might as well just have a smaller engine and go for many more MPG.

Yeah, what's the point....

....I mean, when I took this pic of my little tug-boat in The Dales last week I waited all of no seconds for a clear shot. That tractor was the only thing on the road for the 5 minutes I was there. Buttertubs Pass, along with Ribblesdale, Greenhow Hill, Hawes to Richmond, Grassington to Pateley Bridge....and a bit further south, Woodhead, Snake, Strines, The Cat, Edale, Mam Torr etc....all these roads are the point

BTW, I got an average 40mpg that day, but if I'd not been exploring the potential of my little instructing car I could have quite easily been near the 60's.

Might have been a bit of a shock to the system of course had you been well wound up in one of those supercars as you were approaching that hill crest with the tractor on the other side!

Lovely scenery though, not surprised you took the picture. Haven't got roads as clear as that down here of course.

Used to drive the same roads in my Scoob, in which I outran a Ferrari 355 and have never encountered any other serious challenge. If you drive well then speed isn't unsafe, it's bad driving that's unsafe, and as a driving instructor I feel I am somewhat qualified to say that.

Gaz, I used to go for 6th in my Scoob, which wasn't a good idea as it was a WRX and reverse was where 6th should be

I agree with the point you made about driving, but the place where you do it is just as important. And I feel qualified to say that as an experienced former holder of an RAC full international track racing licence.
