Default Child care NVQ's

To do NVQ level 2 and 3 in childcare, do you need to have already done level one, or can level one be skipped?

Wouldn't mind doing them

I would still like to do them though, would be good to get a job in childcare of some sorts, looking after my own does't qualify me

NVQ 1s are simple as ****. Primary school/spastic level. NVQ 2 is easy as well and is GCSE level. Level 3 is worthwhile doing. My GF is starting next week on level 3 not having done any other levels and shes thick as ****. The kiddies dads will love talking to their kids teacher though

Umm if it is Early years childcare and education then there isn't a NVQ 1 it starts at Level 2 and the standards have changed this year! more practical and assessments and less written work ... also the Level 3 is only 1 year long now instead of 2.

I am starting level 3 soon and have just qualified at level 2

How did it go?

Is it well worth doing?

How easy / hard was it to pass?

Fairly easy Donna, I did 12 months work in 7 months due to having surgery and problems with my head

The written side of things is pretty much common sense, which you will find easy having children of your own. The assessments took some planning but again fairly easy ... general things like planning an activity and then carrying out the activity whilst being observed. I did things like dance lessons so I picked up lots of criteria needed for the portfolios

I think you would enjoy it if you have a general interest in working with children.

I am interested, as it seems the only kind of job really that you get the school holidays off (if within a school) or childcare isn't as much of a problem

I am also considering fostering too There are workshops involved with that, not sure if any of those are NVQ's though.

I think I will definitely find the written easy-ish with having my 3 to run after

I want a goal at the end of it, not quite sure what I want to do yet, so if I get some qualifications, I will have more options hopefully

Good luck

Donna you can work your way upto a midwife ... level 2 means you can be left with the kids.
Level 3 means you can be left with the kids and suprvise other staff
Level 4 means you can manage a whole nursery

I may just keep on going then

I have a friend who's thinking of midwifery, it has made me think too, it is another possibility for me, if I decide what I want to do
