Where are you going and when?

eg. If it's florida in the school holidays, then it's going to be expensive

Sorry I'm not the most qualified person to say about when is best but in my experiance, if it's just flights and not a package, earlier is better.

www.cheapflights.co.uk have a good selection and will usually be comparible to the back of the national press. You can sign up to the BA website, they often have good deals too.

Hope this helps

Yep, I find that a few months before is best. Too far ahead, six months plus, works out more expensive. Ideally I try and book my tickets about three months before I travel. I have tried booking earlier and have left it to the last minute on the same routes and I find around two to three months the best time.

With the short haul flights with budget airlines to European destinations it's generally the further in advance the better.

All depends...

Cheap flights on cheap airlines (easyket, bmi etc) are cheaper the earlier you book

packages are cheaper the later you book but obviously less choice.

Traditional airlines vary depending on demand and time of year - there is always that cut off point where they first start to increase the price as demand increases, and then when it drops off and it gets close to the departure date, so costs go down to encourage late bookers. Mainly on popular and long haul routes.

My wife and I spent Easter in the French Alps (flying from Coventry to Lyon), and I used this web site for flight price/comparison:
