Dubai - what to do and where to go!
I'm in Dubai next week with work.
Are there any pointers as what to do there? Anything I really don't want to miss? Can I get a pint!?

Hi.
I went to Dubai a couple of years ago, really enjoyed it!!!!
Check out:
Burj el Arab - drinks and a meal (book in advance)
The souks (gold, watches, electronics)
4x4 adventure - accross the dunes and dinner in a Bedouin (sp?) tent
The sea - like a warm bath
Cross the river on a water taxi
Water park - near the Burj
Great place - would love to go back!

The developement there at the moment is oustanding. They have so much to offer i must admit it looks awesome and me and the missus are wanting to go soon.
Only thing that put me off for this year was a documentary showing dozens and dozens of high rise hotels half way through construction along the main beaches, so the views and the mess was pretty bad.
But once finished its going to be stunning. Saying that the development there wont be done for a long time with how thigns are going.

Just purchased two flats on Jumeriah Beach- very high spec.
Just a word of warning; this is the worst time to go at the moment because the whole of Jumeriah Beach area is a building site. In fact most of Dubai is a building site, they are on a building trip at the moment because very soon they won't have any ol left.
Check with your hotel before booking.

As previously mentioned by SilverScooby, it pretty much covers what to do and see, but also check out the spice Souk, even just for the smell of the place and the many spices and things you dont see anywhere else.
If you play Golf, many fine courses to choose from, go-karting at the Kart track, Wild Wadi has already been mentioned (water park) but I can highly recommend it for the 'big kid' in you! Go for a walk in the evening through the streets and experience the culture of the place, dont feel intimidated (sp) about being mugged or robbed, its a very very safe place.
Raj27, where did you purchase your flats? I have been looking for a while and very difficult to choose as the choice is so wide.
Thanks
