weather was real bad, sadly dubai drivers do not understand rain and poor conditions. their wnswer rather than leave more roo and drive slower is just to carry on as usual about 3 inchs from each others bumpers (really!) but put their hazzard lights on like iti is some sort of lucky charm.

It looks like the people of Dubai have their own immigrations issues !
News spread around as all dubai worried by assuming that it was a school bus met the acccident..Later everyone pleased to know that these were those “unwanted” construction labours lost their lives(was there any LIFE for them to lose?)….
Let us pray for all those who effected in this tragic incident.
Meantime Condolences to their family since they lost not LIFE but source of BREAD …..only BREAD?

Hmmm, You can only stay if you have employment, lose your job and your visa runs out then you go back home, no welfare for non UAE nationals.
The people that come here, even the poor an uneducated tend to behave, if they transgress then they go to jail and then deported. You do not see them queing for welfare, living off of the state, hanging around causing trouble, they work hard.
It is a real shame about those poor workers and their families, they have a pretty crap time here, conditions are not good, they tend to lve in work camps, in barracks. however bad here it gives them the opportunity to earn money and send some home to keep their families fed so maybe better to work far away from home and not have your family starve back in India, Pakistan, etc.
These guys work 12 hour days six days a week for poor wages but it is still a lot more than they can earn at home or why else would they do it.

yes they are a bit ******* nuts out there. The transition from camel to car on a modern motorway has been a bit too quick for most of them. Rules.....what rules. I havent been out for a few years - looks like they still have those poor Indians etc working like slaves. But as you say they can send big money home - in relative terms.

A police officer who was at the scene described to 7DAYS what he witnessed. “It was a horrible accident,” he said. “When we got there we could hear the moans of the labourers. It was a terrible way to start a work day.”
Not as terrible a day as it was for the labourers who were doing the moaning!

I saw a nasty smash on the M6 Thu afternoon northbound just before J15 on my way to Alton Towers. Very very nasty indeed, 3 cars, one flattened, bodies on the fast lane......sharpens the attention somewhat....
