Call up, and say the following
'Allright mate, Bob here, gonna drop round that £1000 I owe ya. Cash OK? Lost your address so where shall we meet so I can hand the cash over'
You turn up with an envelope (with a few mates, the police etc. hiding in the bushes);)

What did the bloke say when you called then?
A kiddie at work had his PAYG mobile nicked in his local pub so he kept calling it. About 2 days later someone eventually answered it and it turned out they had bought it from the person who nicked it.
amazingly the bloke who had bought the phone took it back to the pub and left it behind the bar for the guy at work, along with the name of the scum who nicked it.
Said scum then had two people after him, one to retrieve his money and one to retrieve retribution for the inconvenience!

do you or your friend have a note of the IMEI number (usally found inside the phone in the under the battery)
If you do, call your network operator and tell them your phone has been stolen and if you provide them with the IMEI number, they can block the phone from being used on their network, also i think most mobile companies work together so if you report that number to one mobile company like vodaphone, the others should also get notified of it and block it on their networks. Then it doesn't matter if the ******* buy a new sim card, cause the phone is blocked, not the card, they are still fooked
Effectively makes the mobile useless to anyone.
so a word of advice to EVERYONE who owns a mobile phone, this will take you like 20 seconds to do and is worth it if your mobile gets nicked, write down your phones IMEI number and keep it safe!
