70mph in 30mph zone
A work colleague got flashed by a Gatso on the motorway on Sunday night
It was 2am, and he was doing 70MPH in an area that was down to 30mph due to roadworks (he claims that he didnt NOTICE the signs until after the camera)
What do you think will be the consequences? (if the camera had film in it)
Cheers
James

What he claims to have seen or not seen doesn't matter. Speeding is treated by the courts as a straight forward 'were you or weren't you' offence. Unless your friend could present evidence that there was no warning of the camera then I would expect him to receive a summons. The time of day might help him, but I would suspect he will be up for 6 points and a hefty fine. It is possible that he could get a ban. If this is not his first offence I would recommend getting a lawyer!

Speeding is
speeding........Get a Lawyer. I do hope he has better luck and receives treatment than I did, you'd have thought I had murdered someone the way I was treated......and all I had done was trip a GASTO at 36mph that had been calibrated to 35mph...........

Lack of warning for the camera cannot be used as a defence.
Hopefully the speed limit was down to 40 or 50? I've never seen a 30 imposed on the motorway, but obvioulsy he was there....
I was always under the impression that 30mph above the speed limit was a ban, but whether this is the same for temporary speed limits I'm not sure.
There's no point worrying about it until he gets the letter, as there is a good chance he won't here, when I first moved to London, I got up to about 12 flashes from cameras for speed and red lights (over a few years) and did not receive a single fine. Now I never get flashed, as I drive more carefully / know where they are!
There are loads of websites with heaps of info on them nowadays....

Few years ago friend of mine got done in similiar circumstances except he was doing 100+ in a temporary 50. As it was 3 in the morning the court was lenient and he got six points and a £250 fine. Me I'd have thrown the book at him as he was driving a 3 seies BMW

I've noticed times before I've joined a dual carraigeway with no signs on the slip road and none ½ a mile or upto 2 miles after joining informing of a temporary speed limit situations like this you only notice once passing the next sign which by then is too late...

Woman at my work went to visit her family in Norfolk and got pulled over doing 52 in a 30 limit. The reason she was doing 52 was that the road had very recently been changed to a 30 and she hadn't realised as she only visits occasionally.
The police were entrapping people who hadn't realised. And I can hardly think that the road was outside a school or the like due to it only recently changing.
She had her day in court today and she got a £175 fine and a 14 day ban! They didn't even listen to her saying that the last time visited it was a 50 limit and that she needed to get to work.
Seems a bit steep to me, especially as the system is so unfair. I know 30mph over the limit is an instant ban, (she was 22mph over) but I'm sure worse things have happened and people have got away with far less.
She is hardly a hardened criminal and is about 55ish. Makes me mad
