Default Prague

I am off to Prague with a few mates in a couple of weeks (Practice stag doo)

Has anyone on here been?
Best places to go?
Places to avoid?

I've heard of credit card fraud being common...but I have also heard of muggings etc... so cash left in our rooms is the only other solution..

Anyone?

Never had any problems in Prague at all. Gorgeous city, still dirt cheap and super friendly people.

Wenceslas Square is a good place to start for allsorts of things and make sure you take a trip to the other side of the river to explore the old city.

If you're on a stag, you must go to:
  • Goldfingers at the Ambassador Hotel (ask for Mary )
  • Relax 5
Enjoy!

Juan

Ive been, i really enjoyed it.

I know they were going to be joining the euro,if they have it might not be so cheap. When i was there the drink was unbeliveably cheap and not one ugly bird to be seen .

I recommend GOLDFINGERS,can be quite pricey but its pure quality,if you know what i mean .

Oh yes and there is some lovely architechture, somewhere,i think, was there, hmmm maybe not. Did i mention the women are nice

You won't be disappointed! it's a great place, every 2nd building seems to be a bar of some sort
The czech beer is fantastic, checkout http://www.praguepubs.co.uk/ for the best pubs. Also lists pub which serve unpasteurized pilsner
When I went in Jan we got approached by quite a lot by people offering free entrance to strip clubs etc, on the last night we took them up on the offer (against all advice) and it was pretty good although beer was of course a bit more expensive then the pubs.

Couple of tips

Beware of fit women trying to give you hugs in the street. They are just trying to pick pocket you.

Carry a dummy wallet. Fill it with expired credit cards and maybe a low denomination note. If you do get mugged give this to them or better still throw it on the floor at their feet and then run like ****.

Mark

Oh and Prague is great, enjoy

Another thumbs up for Empire Club

Didn't see any likely muggers when I was there and plenty of police foot patrols.

When you leave the airport get into a white minibus taxi - they have a set fee per person and work out cheap. The others will rip you off. They all drive like lunatics though.

Empire, definately the place to go, you HAVE to experience it, its immpossible to describe
The bar on the river side just below the bridge is great in the day, watch people / boats go by while you sink a few bevvies.
We personally never had a problem, the only thing to look out for are cheap hookers looking for business in the middle of the square, stay well clear.

Some places are 30p/pint (some even less) the bigger and more touristy the pub the more expensive. The most I remember paying is about £1 for pilsner

Had a friends stag do there a couple of years ago, never found anywhere for 30p a pint, though we did tend to stay in the busier tourist pubs/bars. Didnt go there for cheap beer though, goldmembers gets my vote to

U Fleků is good for some dark beer, entertainment and a laugh to start the night off. Bit touristy though.

Never had any problems with card fraud or muggings myself. Like any big city, just use your noggin and watch out for each other.

There's loads of Gypo hookers if you wander about the streets, so I'd give them a wide bearth (avoid them, in case you get the wrong idea )

if you hang around the main tourist haunts, then you'll pay a premium for beer & food - it's just like any other city.

Go to a bar in a quiet backstreet and you'll pay much less. Even bars just off areas like Old Town Square are cheaper than right on the square itself.
