Default Going to Prague

Me and 5 of my mates are off to Prague in a few weeks for a good pissup. We are going for 4 nights and I was wondering how many beer tokens to take. I’ve been told it’s quite cheap over there and that I won’t need any more than 50 quid spending money a day. Normally when abroad (Ibiza, Magaluf, Tenerife) I will get through 100 quid a day so 50 quid a day doesn’t seem a lot. Don’t want to get over the then have to budget my self, I like to spend first and think later.

I spent 4 days in Prague over last weekend on a stag I organised.

It really depends where you go and how much you will drink. In the main tourist areas and lap-dancing bars, expect to pay UK prices or thereabouts. Cheapest I seem to remember was about 30czk (about 70p) for a beer in a side street bar in the Old Town.

keep an eye on your wallet,2 of my m8s got pickpocketed when we were there.
lots of different scams,a stunning bird grabbed his bollox as her m8 lifted his wallet.we still dont know how the other 1 was stolen.just take small amounts of cash out with you is my advice.

Went there on a stag do a couple of years ago, and if you go to the centre its not cheap, but you will have a good time. Think it used to be cheap a few years ago, heard stuff like 25p a pint, but since it has become popular prices have gone up, expect similar prices to over here. Plenty of places to check out...... goldmember club was quite a good place to start with, easy to spend a few quid in there though!!!

My boyfriend went to Prague with a group of his mates last month for four days and i think he spent about £250 or £300 while he was out there. Beer was definitely very cheap by all accounts, so the amount consumed by them all was a lot higher I'm sure lol!!

Which probably means he spend a couple of hundred quid on Pragues other main form of entertainment. Get a quick check up now, just to be on the safe side

Might take 200quid in cash/travellers cheques and take my card just in case we do decide to visit a few specialised clubs.

IMO take a card but leave it in the Hotel safe or room safe once you've got the money out..

I changed money before I went and it was a struggle to spend it all though we didn't do the ****/lech thing. Out of £200, I took £75ish back.

You can spend a bit in some good restaurants. There was a Brazilian and Italian we went to that were very good. Try "U Vejvodu" for beers and food too.

If you want VFM search out bars around the corner or away from the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square. On those streets, they're over priced, touristy and too busy.

Get a 3 day pass for the public transport. ISTR it was 200Kr to use trams/bus/underground for 3 days.

It's worth a trip up to the Castle.

Cheapest beers were 23Kr (micro brewery near the castle) and 26Kr (I think in U Vejvodu). Me and my mates are weird and like dark or mild beers though. Also, there's a Czech micro-breweries bar in one of the back streets that does draught and bottled beers from around the country. I got a bottle of 8% porter for around the 80-90Kr mark.

Exchange rate was about 45Kr to the pound when I went back in May.

I'm off to Prague in a few weeks too (when are you going Tim??)

Stag do, obviously, and I am Best Man. Whats the exhange rate like, I have no idea.

Our hotel is a very nice one literally just off Wenceslas Square, but I was told that is the place to go.

How far to the Old Town please?

Where are the best places for filth please? (Purely for Stag Do requirements of course) pm me if too blue.

Many thanks in advance.

Asif, the Jaguar Bar is cheap and cheerful, plenty of good pubs/lap dancing bars at the bottom of the Charles Bridge as well.

We all went for my stag do in 2003, excellent place and cheap. For food go to the places down the side streets away from the main tourist bit. We found a restaurant in a basement which served 13 of us all night long with food, beer and Absinthe and it cost £10 each for about 3 hours

Lovely place.

I would highly recommend Kampa Park, which is at the western end of Charles Bridge. The food there was excellent (though not quite michelin-star quality), and some rate it as the best restaurant in town.

For an excellent classy and atmospheric traditional Czech meal, try U Modre Kachnicky 2 (The Blue Duck) in the Old Town.
