Hotels In Prague
Hi - quick question for a mate who's taking his wife to Prague in Jan '07:
Can anybody recommend a hotel in Prague? He's checked out the Hilton and Thalia - both 5 star with reviews for both being really good.
Needs to be/have:
4 or 5 star (preferable)
Good views
Close to city centre
... think it might be his anniversary so if it has a romantic twist would be good
If anybody can recommend either of the two as he's already done his homework on these? I've seen pictures of both and the Hilton definately looks nice from inside but the Thalia pictures are limited.
Told him that if anybody knows, somebody here will :

Just spent two weeks in the Prague Hilton - ok as a business hotel. Not central, not romantic and full of baying consultants!
I would absolutely recommend the Hotel Paris - one of the great hotels and buildings of Prague just off the Old Town Square, in the same block as the wonderful restaurant used on XXX (where he uses the tray to reflect the sun to escape).
Over the road is the Grand Hotel, also very good. Both are far more central than the Hilton.
Velryba who posts on here sometimes, his wife organises hotels and trips in Prague. If you want her details then PM me.
Also if they are there for a few days a strongly recommended restaurant is Ambiente Pasta Fresca - superb and you have to book. Ask the concierge at the hotel. A short walk from both recommendations. Lots of tourist restaurants are rubbish. La Modra Ruze is very traditional and good, a little expensive (for Prague) and a little fussy - very romantic setting though off Wenceslas Square.

A - PRAGUE.com - Prague Hotels & Prague Apartments - Prague Hotel or Apartment Accommodation we found was very good for searching. Try for the Old Town area is my preferance.

There are also a lot of businesses that have clearly tried to exploit the influx of tourists - usually easy to spot though. The whole place is moving away from the stag weekend mentality to a more cultured approach.
