Should we be using them or not

What a bizarre poll!

They great for cooking some types of food and totally unsuitable for others.

I'd be wary about leaving them switched on unattended.

Why do you ask if their dangerous . In what way. I used one for years with no problems.

The reason I am asking this question is, I like the food cooked in them, chicken is one of my favourites, also my partner and I both work so I think we should use one more often But.
My partner cannot under stand anyone leaving food in to cook from 8 in the morning to 6 in the evening.
So he must be thinking its dangers, may be even cause food poisoning, but I say to him then why were they invented?

So I need evidence for him to read so he can trust the slow cooker and not think it will make him ill.

The very fact that you can buy them and that they've been around for years should be evidence enough LOL.

Is he a bit wary about having electricity installed into the house or watching tv in case the men jump out of the screen?

i think what you are refering to is the kidney bean food poisoning issue that occured in the mid eightys

basically people were banging chilli into the slow cookers and going to work,

when they got home they had piping hot chilli,,,

and food poisoning the next day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

turns out that you have to cook kidney beans above a certain temprature to

stop some chemical reaction

if not its the blowing chunks syndrome..

i think microwaves dented there popularity
