I've got the 304. It really is fantastic for the price. Automatic mode is great for starting out, as are the pre set night mode, and sports mode. Some manual settings let you experiment a bit too. I was so pleased with it that i am now looking at upgrading to a 5000/7000 having gotten well into this Photography malarky.
The new 3000 is an update of the 304 - but beware, the newer version does not have sound on the video, so you may get a better buy if you find somewhere still stocking the 304.

Edited to say - I don't mean it's waterproof!! I mean it takes excellent pictures of water!

Ive got the S602 - really happy with it, does unlimited video too, I run it with a 1gig memory card and can record an hours video(Ithink) which is ideal for track days etc. 6 X optical zoom, resolution that is better than youll ever need. Also a whole bunch of slr features.

OK, its the FIJI?
Even though, when you asked for advice, the OVERWHELMIMG advice was to buy the s304??
Not really sure why you asked and why I bothered to answer??

I have a Fuji S602, a very good camera, had it since March and it's been great. It's very easy to use as are all the Fuji's but it has the advantage of taking you to the next step of photography rather than just using the auto settings etc.
Most of my pics on my website are taken with the S602 have a look HERE I think the S602 performed really well for me on the Cyprus WRC.
Having said that I have now upgraded to a Canon 10D for the ability to play even more, but that said I like the S602 so much I cann't bring myself to sell it which says a lot I think.

Well as usual couldn't wait, went into PC world for a look at the cameras and ended up buying the S5000, impressed so far.
Some of the first 20 or so pics I took of some cold wildlife
Tried the night time with the slow flash to try and capture a dripping outside tap. Didn't manage to get a still shot, too cold to stop moving.
Here's to some fun practicing
