Steve

Used to have a Fuji 2400 zoom (now been superceeded by the 2600 I think) however have recently upgraded to the new-ish Fuji S602 Zoom.

What a top bit of kit.... It even now takes CF slots and combined with a 1gb IMB microdrive gives you hundreds of hi-res images or up to 15mins of Video ! - Got a local Jessups to price match an Internet price I found.

See here http://www.fujifilm.co.uk/fujidc/fp602/info.html

Question

I have decided to upgrade my 35mm 7 year old camera.

Although it still takes fantastic photos, I just get so embarassed taking it anywhere cause it's the size of a mini bus, plus all the stick I get from friends. I end up shouting out "M8 can I borrow your camera" and hold mine high up so everyone can see and try and embarass them.

But the time has come to move on.

So if anyone out there can help me?? I think you may have the jist of what I want now?
A small digi camera!! Not too fussed about cost as long as it is decent and has a screen to look at photos after taking them.
Oh and plenty of memory or easy to get hold of smart media cards etc??

Cheers for your help

Steve

fuji finepix 2800 is what you want. 2.0 mega pixels, 6xzoom, 60second video, looks cool (people will want to borrow your camera), less than £300 on the net. You will need a bigger smart card tho only comes with 16mb

I'm currently looking too...I've heard the Fuji Finepix F601 is a bad boy for about £400 on the net.

Does anyone on here have one? Any views?

From limited experience, I'd back the Canon Digital Ixus V - it's small, easy to use and produces good quality images (and small movies). It costs about £300, and uses compact flash.

Take look at http://www.dpreview.com/ if you're still undecided. I had a Fuji 4900 myself, can't fault it for pretty much 90% of everything I asked it to do. It even managed well with night-time shots thanks to the flash shoe (and guesswork where the metering is concerned, one of my only complaints) and action stuff assuming the shot was framed, metered and focussed manually to get the reponse time of the camera down.

Generally, look for optical zoom instead of digital and don't be afraid to splash the cash on storage. You'll get far nicer and higher quality pics if so.

Thanks for all your help people!!

I think I have almost decided. This one has had good reviews it's nice and small and well, the price is not bad either.
It's a Konica KD-400Z around £350.00

Has anyone had/got/used this camera, if so let me know what you think??

Cheers

I would suggest to to buy a Nikon, either the 885 or 4500. Or if you could give 1000 GBP buy the masterpiece called 5700. Not only because of the usual NIkon quality. The software coming with the camera and the excellent lenses and photoexposure calculation are far ahead.
