No probs. Don't give him the answer directly. Try and think up some cryptic way of telling him so that he still has to work something out for himself. Or, just narrow down what areas he has to do something in, then if it is even only by trial and error, he will manage to (sort of) work it out for himself

Otherwise, you may as well just follow the walkthrough
