PS2 - What do you need?
#1
Can anyone help?
I'm thinking of buying a PS2. Do you need a scart lead or does it come with one?
Will the scart lead from the original PS1 work on PS2?
Also what about memory cards. Can the PS2 read PS1 memory cards and then write them out on PS2 memory cards?
Also I have a big lounge and for my PS1, I had to buy some 2 controller extension leads. Will the PS2 pads be able to hook up to those extension leads? Or are they wired up differently? Also how long are the pad leads?
Also has anyone played any of the PS1 games on the PS2? Any differences? Any problems?
I heard that the DVD playback could not be played back through the RGB connector? Is this still the case and have Sony sorted out the other problems with the green hues when playing back DVD's. Is the PS2 in the shops for £269 a different model number to the orginal ones.
Sorry for all the questions but if anyone can help then it would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Hello,
It comes with Scart (but s video is better for DVD's allegedly)
The PS1 Scart lead is identical and works ok
PS1 and PS2 memory cards are NOT compatable, You need PS1 Cards for PS1 games and PS2 Cards for PS2 games. You can NOT save a PS1 Game on a PS2 card or vice versa. Due to a different block size and address format I suppose (most people think its just a con)
I have had no Probs playing any of my PS1 games on a PS2.
All my PS1 memory cards work correctly but they are all offical sony ones.
The Green hue thing was a bit wierd. I had one of the original batch and it never happened, altogh the film the Matrix does have a green hue at the start becuase it is meant to! For some reason most people who get a PS2 got the Matrix and jumped on the bandwagon!
The GReen thing did occuur on some Scoobynet mebers TV but I never had any problems with the Sony supplied leads.
Have fun.

I think there are about 8 or so PS1 games that don't work with the PS2. I've got one of them (Mortal Kombat Trilogy) although I ain't tried it yet.
No problems with all my other PS1 games, currently playing FFIX more than any PS2 game
