Cav is so close to the mighty Merkcx in the TdF wins. Still a huge ask to better 34 wins. But there has been so many sprinters compromised by crashes in the first 3 days. Cav has good chance of getting a few wins and maybe overall green points jersey

Enjoy the victories while we still can, the future is looking bleak for British cycling!

Bull****
There are many avenues to the elite level. Tom Pidcock via cyclocross. Most British riders come via the track.

For those who go the traditional way, living abroad has never been an obstacle. Froome born raced in Kenya. Other elite cycling champions are from South America, Columbia etc. Hasnt interfered with them taking top spot in grand tours.

Like most, they prefer the status quo, instead of change.

Its a non issue, Harry tanfield( I met him and team HUUB in Tenerife when cycling) can live and train in Spain.

Others train in USA, middle east and lets not forget many train on Zwift through winter- I dont venture out on the roads fron Oct-April and still manage to ride 5-10 hours a week, even for aged average Joe

Only had to turn crank 14 times , on his own , to make the win

That’s like a center fwd waiting outside the box and tapping it over the line 😜

apart from the additional 4 hrs work each day / 4000 cal burn

There is a fair bit more to it than that.

firslty being able to unload near 2000W after hours of riding.

but far more importantly is the concentration and race craft to be able to hold front of pack position whilst other teams are trying to swamp and overtake you. Its known as the washing machine effect, if a team or rider doesn't pay attention in a matter of seconds can be swallowed up and pushed backwards in the pack losing vital position and distance.

Yesterday it was critical to be in the first 4-6 riders exiting the final bend with only 300metres to the finish line. Quickstep, do what they do best, got Cavendish on his lead rider coming out of the final bend for him to unleash his sprint with less than 200m to go. Cavendish held off a drafting Van Aert.

This racing pack dynamic is also active within Zwift. It makes for an interesting time racing on Zwift, without the risk of crashing
