Question So how much should we really be paying now?

Hello folks

Just looked in to my emails and saw this on the Orange website

http://web.orange.co.uk/article/news...ed_by_treasury

So what prices should we be seeing on the pumps atm? Also I reckon that if these prices are not passed on to the general public who are being mugged for every litre, maybe the fuel companies should be fined more than what there ripping us off which would hopefully deter them from doing it again........ And so on

Yes that's not a bad price. Our local BP garage does fuel cut days twice a week and the best its been is 120.9 but then you get a 3p per litre coupon in the local paper each week which you can use in conjunction with their cut price day

But I don't use BP So its not very good for me lol

Also just heard that a couple of supermarkets are bringing the price down by 1p per litre tomorrow

We should be paying what ever the current market pump price is for fuel. Quite frankly the wholesale price of fuel is pretty insignificant compared to the amount of tax that's paid on it. All this is is vote wringing, the treasury trying to show they're in touch with the concerns of the people.

If they were really interested in lowering the price of fuel then they'd reduce the taxation on fuel but then that'd hit their bank balances. Where as painting the fuel companies as the bad guy won't.

Besides, the whole point of running a sucessful business is to make the most money from the least investment (i.e. profit). Quite frankly I'd be more interested if they'd managed to find a company that undercuts the market value.

Don't worry it'll soon go back up when they squeeze supply / demand.

I'll bet anyone, we will see at least 3p more tax on a litre straight after the next election.
