Having a bit of a scanning session today and thought peoples might like a look at these.

Outlon Park, Cheshire, back end of 2002 for a weekend programme of TVR Tuscans, GT/GTOs, Minis and assorted 'Formula' single seaters.

Sat at the exit to Knickerbrook Chicane with ChrisL and Scoobychick. An early start had bagged us top spots right by the fence.

Up came the GT/GTO race - some sweet sounding and great looking cars

It all starts out with some great nose-to-tail action:

Then we get a wee drop of the wet stuff from above The GT cars hit the crest and start to head downhill to Knickerbrook. The torrential rain means they have no chance of stopping, let alone making the chicane. In the mean time our umbrellas are doing their best to shelter us from enough rain to worry Noah.

From our vantage point you could watch car after car come over the crest and see the carnage developing just metres from our seats.

No matter how hard the drivers hit the anchors they could do nothing but aquaplane down the hill and add to the wreckage:

Now at this moment I time I run out of flipping film So fast forward a little and the amazingly quick response from the marshals and safety crews has arrived:

The pink spot back up the hill is a TVR (IIRC) that elected to take on the tyre wall rather than smack into another car.

Some managed to limp back to the pits:

Others needed more assistance:

It doesn't rain, but it pours:

Pre accident this Ferrari sounded stunning:

Reckon it’ll T-Cut out?

That’s all folks.

We saw one marshall get hit by a spinning car as he ran to help another car. Made us shudder but told that he suffered nothing more than a few bruises.

Bad corner that is. I sae Paul Warwick (Dereks younger brother) die on that corner in a formula 3000. The runnoff area has since been widened I think.

My vague memories says Nat is right - no F1s but more than one Saleem.

More than one person were carting a chunk of carbon fibre to the car at the end of the day.

Thumbs up

That was one hell of a days motorsport and a great time to run out of film Chris L had the digital camera out but the rain was coming horizontally from behind us with (it felt like) a force 10 gale and it was as much as we could do to hold onto our seats let alone anything else plus at the height of the worst rain you could barely see, it was seriously scary. The best thing about it was that we were given the tickets free by my mate who races a Mini Se7en which were also there that weekend
