Default EJ20G rebuild..Again

Hi,

I have a slight dilemma in rebuilding my Ej20G.

Im living In Macau where communication with a machinist or my mechanic is not fantastic! Also all my parts have to be ordered from overseas!

I am about to do a order for all the parts to rebuild with forged parts but want to make sure 100% that I am on the right track.

At present my order list is as follows.

92.5mm Wiseco K575A925
Manley H beam rods
ACL bearings (thrust a #3)
Oil Pump
1.6mm Cometic HG

If someone has any info! Can they confirm that I am ordering the right bits to give my engine a extended life?
I am planning on using the original Crank and the heads as they are.
This is for a 95 V2 WRX looking to run a safe 400hp.(gear box discussion another time)

Any input would be great

Thanks
Dan

Hi Dan

Not sure if stroker option from few companies here will be better and cheaper option

Parts which you are looking to put are good, but still I would use rather Cosworth HG kit than Cometic HG

Thanks for the HG info.

I looked into stroker kits, But as my Thrust bearing is #3 I would have to get extra machining done, Which here is increasing the risk of my block being destroyed as machining here is very touch and go!!
Also doubles the shipping price!

Am i correcting in thinking the V2 EJ20 had a 1.6mm Head gasket? As the Wiseco website lists something as small as 0.6?

Why not have it built here and sent to you? But a early wrx box will let go on rollers at 400 I would say. Is there someone to map there also?

I would love to do this, But Macau has a extremely frustrating rule that the serial number on the engine must be the same as when it was sold as new! So its impossible to change my block and still have a rego!! Proper pain in the ***!!

Mapping isn't a problem. I have been self tuning ESL for about a year now. I have already gone through one gear box and have built a much strong 5 speed now!!

Currently running a
TD05-20G
750cc injectors with Aeromotive reg
Walboro
FMIC
Mafless running ESL with a wide-band permanently connected to a Innovate LM2

I'm Prob not far of 400hp now but I really wanna make sure Im not going to destroy my block in the process!!!

I think once the block is stuffed its scrap metal for the car! Not a very clever system.
Road trip from through china,Russia and Eastern Europe would be great fun. But don't think I'll find the time!

Dan,
Your thread title is EJ20G rebuild again - was the block bored last time to take oversize pistons ? If so,the 92.50mm maybe no good if the bores are already at 92.50mm.

As Jura said above, better choice of head gaskets would be OEM or Cosworth multi layer steel gaskets.

Merlin, Thanks for the reply. The block as im aware is as it left the factory so should be 92mm.
I will try and source a OEM gasket.

Is it worth looking into replacing any head components?

Thanks
Dan
