I'm scared of using blocks of wood in case they move, my luck says they would
Ramp extensions look like the way to go, didn't know you could get them. I've just seen a set of adjustable ramps on Ebay as well.

Couldn't get any ramp extensions local and postage was expensive so I knocked some up. I managed to get some used L section for free so all it cost me was some welding rods and a cutting disc
