Default Tescos 99 Ron

Filled up with Tesco 99 Ron just to try out and car is down on power but seems to be up on MPG Used half tank and done 130 Miles, with VPower usually around 110 miles on half tank

I guess its just a hit or a miss with Tesco as their Quality control maybe not as good as Shell

It used to be that Tesco 99 (now Momentum) gave slightly less MPG due to the bio-ethanol content.
I use this and also Shell and find precious little difference between the two.

could be weather related ,colder the temp is outside the more responsive your car will be but will also use alot more fuel ,when it warms up slightly you will get better mpg but wont be as responsive

i found both nearly identical just i prefer v power as tesco is always full of slow people talking at the pumps

Mine hates V-Power and loves Momentum. MPG is noticeably terrible with V-power compared to Tesco. Go figure...

Ive also taken to using Tesco 95ron with added octane booster if they have no 99ron.

No noticable difference between the 2 but on boost and pickup its a lot smoother running my Wagon on V-power.

Same here. Mine will boost smoother on V-power but having to plan journeys around shell petrol stations is a bit of pain....... likes momentum as well but the stations are always packed with queue jumpers or OAP's with a 'pay at the pump' phobia...

Fed up with Tossco. They are alweays out of Momentum, and have neither excuse, nor apologies. They don't GIVE a Toss, hence their new name.

I shan't EVER use it again, unless V-Power is gone from both local Shell stations.

is there much difference in price between momentum and v-power now? i have only put half a tank full of momentum in mine and it was some while back but if there really aint a lot of real world difference between them i may start using tesco instead.

2p or 7p if you have a 5p voucher that they do from time to time (when they take all the offers off food/clothes, etc and stitch us up totally.. but we dont notice cos we are just thinking of the 5p voucher off)
There is **** all difference between the 2 fuels in terms of performance.. both I think have a max of 2.7% oxygen?

thanks...i know this can be quite a heavily divided subject...but at the end of the day the fuels both have to meet certain criteria, i guess, so they should really have the same effect upon the engine. think i might have to stop being so **** about only sticking v-power in it cos someone said its the best!!

Did you mean talking tothe pumps?

I actually feel a bit embarassed when I use Tesco. A black STi, lowered with anthracite 18's and out pops someone just as old as all the others at the pumps! I have been known to "talk" to the pump when the damn thing refuses to flow or slows up (have you noticed that at Tesco stations?)

It would be nice to have the chance to compere, nearest Shell is a 40 mile round trip, and the nearest Momentum99 is 50 mile round trip.

Best i can do in town is Esso Supreme with a dash of NF.

I don't know?

If he 'feels' like the car is going better/faster, then physiological.

If he 'thinks' the car is going better/faster, then psychological.

Sorry if my post 'correction' came across as condescending etc. That wasn't the intention.
