Try filling the header tank through the hose that goes to the turbo undo it and use a funnel or i normally set heaters to full heat fill header tank and overflow behind headlights run the engine and top up as needed once cant get any more in take it for a spin let it cool down & check and top up if needed hth

i hope this isn't going to become another 10 page thread on how to change oil.

Dan please don't ask what the correct procedure is. just search for it. Believe me it's in your own best interest not to get the how to change oil saga going again.

with that one question you run the risk now starting some kind of scoobynet oil change war.

At the risk of being part of this war.

drop the old oil prefill the new oil filter before fitting, put new oil in disable engine crank over until the oil light goes out, then start the engine

lmao im a relative newbie so from one to another, i did a oil change, warmed car, drained oil, removed filter, refilled filter, refitted filter, removed something that stops the car firing but allows the engine to turn over, its a connector just below the alternator, filled car back up, sat in, turned over and over for about 30 seconds till oil light went out on dash, re connected back up, and fired up alls good
just remember to check oil on these regulary as i found out they do tend to breathe/burn/loose a tad..

yes all that was done

after doing a quick search on here could the burning rubber smell be a leaking rocker gasket but why now and not before

sorry that i keep on

you will have to have a good look around the area for leaks.

my o/s rocker gasket leaks and looks like it has been for a while but never get any smoke from it, just a oily arm whenever working down that side of the engine

Mine used to smoke like that and it turned out to be the oil return on the turbo.
It's got to be worth a look?

Which wire below the alternator anyway guys?
