Question WRX OIL CHANGE!?!

hi i'm a scoobie newbie, i've just changed my cambelt and now want to change my oil and filter. now usually you drain the oil change the filter and put in new oil then run up and check level.....is this the case on subaru's too? only reason i'm not sure is my friend had his serviced and they scrapped the engine he took it to scoobyclinic i think it was and they said they hadn't 'primed' the engine when putting in the oil??? so it hadn't reached the one side of the block? that was on a classic and mine is an 04 wrx. anyone heard of this?? or do you just change it as normal? thanks guys

iam too a scoob newbie, and just from searching around i got the info i needed, when u do the oil change, do it as you normally would

but ... when u get to the point of putting the new oil filter on,fill the oil filter up with new oil and then fit, then put in your new oil as u normally would etc, but before you start it remove the crank sensor plug (seperate them) crank lightly a couple times then reconnect the plug then should be ok ...

this is my take on it ... and iam going to do mine for 1st time on the scoob this week, bearing in mind ive done plenty of oil changes before just not on a scoob.

To me does sound bit nervy but should be fine

Correct impreza engine oil change procedure

1) Warm engine

2) Drain old oil from sump

3) Remove old filter

4) Pre-fill new filter with fresh oil. Fill and keep filling until it won't take anymore.

5) Apply new filter

6) Apply new washer to sump plug and tighten

7) Fill engine oil filler to mid-way between two holes on the dipstick

8) Disconnect crank sensor

9) (Preferably) remove spark plugs

10) Dry crank engine at least until oil pressure light extinguishes - ideally for 20
seconds or so more.

11) Refit spark plugs

12) Refit crank sensor plug

13) Start engine, leave to idle for a good minute or so before driving for oil pressure to stabilize

14) Check sump plug and filter seal for adequate tightness/leaks

15) Go for slow drive until engine fully warmed

16) Top engine oil to upper hole

17) Check sump plug and filter seal for adequate tightness/leaks

Crank sensor is easy peasy, right at the top front of the block, immediately behind the timing marks on the cambelt cover, underneath the alternator.
Safe and sure way. ****DO NOT OVER-FILL****

You may not have to disconnect the sensor, but for 2mins work why take the chance?

seems that way, at first thought .. probably be wrong.. but by removing the plugs and sensor it allows the oil to spread thru the engine without stoppage..
