what vesion have i got???
hope some 1 can help me i have a import sti registered on the 31st of january 1997 and was just wonderin what version it is cuz i have no clue what so ever lol.

On the passenger side suspension turret there is the ID plate which has trim,colour code etc it has a 7 digit code which says 'applied model' the below list tells you how to identify your model from that code
1.Series code G=Impreza S=Forester B=Legacy etc.
2.Body type F=Wagon C=Sedan
3.Engine type 8=2.0L Turbo
4.Year code A=MY93 B=MY94 C=MY95&96 D=MY97 (facelift) E=MY98 F=MY99 G=MY00
5.Number of doors 2=2 door coupe 4=4 door saloon 5=5 door wagon/hatch
6.Model type 8=WRX 7=RA type E=Sti D=Sti Type R & RA
7.Transmission D=5 Speed Manual AWD P=4 Speed Automatic AWD
e.g. GC8A48D = impreza, saloon,turbo,1993,4 door,WRX,manual

no it hasnt but got same code GC8D4ED = impreza,saloon,turbo,1997,4 door,STI,manual

hi there. new here and am just reading up to know what my new scoobys all about. i too wanted to know what i have but i have 1 letter out.
the number of doors? mine seems to have a "k" instead of a number.
ive worked out G impreza
F wagon

E my98
K?
8 wrx
D 5 speed manual
its also a P reg registered 97 so why is it a my98? sorry if its obvious, im new to the car but very much enjoying it and learning about it.

yes, i think mine is a uk but its an early 97 according to the paperwork but code looks like its a my98 model.
also do you know where i can get any info/ basic specs on a uk car.

if its a sti it will have a red top engine and sti red wing seats. yours is a version 3 if it has the black clocks, white clocks is the version 4 and is the facelift 98/99

As you can see, Subaru didn't start their MYs from 1st Jan, hence why it can be confusing to the uninitiated...
