Default EJ22T Blocks

Just a query really, but where are are these available from?

I was looking over on NASIOC, and they are always mentioning ej22t blocks, and the are a closed deck.

Why don't we seem to use them much? We seem to go for the 2.5 or 2.1 route. Could you get a ej22t and use a stroker kit to make it 2.3?

They are more available over in the states as the EJ22 block are in the USDM legacy.

There are still a few stroked EJ22 blocks (2.33) knocking around the UK AFAIK

You can get them here but expect to pay a kings ransom for them due to what they are

I thought I'd read about the legacy actually. Didn't the UK one come with a CDB 2.2 then I presume?

Is that the main reason then really we don't use them as much, just availability?

Edit: and price?

Pretty much so, There quite sought after by people who want to go the 2.3 stroker route and we all know how strong these are, So sellers tend to charge over the odds as they know they will sell

The UK/Euro legacy lump is open deck. I have a brand new never used EJ22T unassembled shortblock and would sell for the right money.

Out of curiosity which versions (model years) of legacy did get the 2.2 T CDB and was it the japan/USA versions the only ones which got them?

The EJ22T block is the largest closed deck block that Subaru produced with under piston oil squiters and was originally fitted to the SOHC 2.2L legacy turbo between 1991-1994 and was available in north America only. Later Subaru released the EJ22G closed deck block with no under piston oil squiters which was fitted in the Impreza 22b and the legacy BF7 and BFB version but sold only in Japan, but 18 22b's where imported offically into the UK. Subaru don't make either blocks anymore but remanufactured blocks are available and easier to source from North America.

So you'd have to pay P+P from America if you wanted one! Which is why they aren't seen too much round here then.....

Here's mine

When I wanted one everybody told me I was wasting my time. After a couple of weeks on the net I found a subaru dealer in Denver who had a few in their warehouse, still in the original crates. I bought mine and posted up the link for others and they were sold out within a couple of days.

They are out there but just take a bit of tracking down.

Playsatan, how much did it stand you in for (inc. all P&P/import duty/VAT fees, etc...)?

Can't really answer that question.

Brand new block with standard crank, rods and pistins was $1800 but I had it sent to a tuner over there to have it converted to a 2.33 before I was sent over here.

I did all of this a couple of years ago when the exchange rate was much better though.

No worries - just interested that's all.

Yeah, remember when the exchange rate was around 1.98bucks/quid - getting on for a year ago now, I think.

It even topped 2.00+:1 for a day or two, I care to remember. Damn! Damn! lol
