Read https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...-upgrades.html as essentially your car is very similar except you don't have to worry about the cat up-pipe!

280 is possible with a remap, I think the stock fuel cut is at about 0.8 bar so you can get to about 0.75 which will be about 250bhp.

Drop in filter is a nice to have, but stock airbox is good, no benefit (but many downsides) of changing the dumpvalve unless its the 'whoosh' you want from a vent to atmosphere, just expect the nasty side effects of running over rich!

ok thanks...do u rekon pushing the car to a bar would cause any downsites. i knw the boost would be raised...but would it be a problem if the timing and fueling were stock setting?

thanks

I don't have any experience of your model, but on mine the mapping all appears safe to the overboost fuel cut, so thats where I'm currently running mine as the cost of that is minimal, to run above the overboost level it will need to be mapped (about £750 on the 99/00 which I think you have), so its worth getting the other mods decided upon and ready to go before you get it mapped (once you have the licence later remaps will be cheaper, about £400-£450)

Ok, the boost cut off on the 99/00 turbo (uk car) is about 18psi, running out of the factory thats about 11psi, modded you dont really want to go above 16-17psi, stock pistons can and have been known to literally snap at above 1.2 bar (about 16psi)
How safely can you run the car? well it depends, driving style and maintenance come into it, the turbo will do about 270bhp safely, but most people will then change to a bigger turbo, normally a vf35/td05 16g or a vf34, but then you have the problem of torque, where this can affect the gearbox and clutch, but again down to driving style.
If you are mechanically unsympathetic, the car will break quicker than if you are sympathetic.
For modding, easiest route is full decat, uprated hose kit (samco) and ecutek remap (99 onwards), probably cost you in the region of 1200 quid but id also look at the brakes (as they suck on the standard 215bhp let alone anything above that), and add another 3-400 if you want to do the disc/pad route there (though your better off going for a decent 4 pot kit).
Now that your at this stage, tyres.... (its never ending once you start......)

ok thanks...ihave already got brakes 4pot that already came with the car. i think if these imprezas didnt have the airflow meters they would be much easier to tune dont you think so?

Why do you think that? A MAF is not restrictive in anywhere near stock form and by measuring airflow directly it means that some of the mods that would cause a speed density system to run lean are accomodated by measuring not calculating airflow...long live the MAF!
