Default Whats this dipstick?

Its the one top left by turbo on my 01 WRX. It appears to be lowish and was only serviced 2 month ago. What's this oil for and what type goes in?

Many thanks

75w-90 gear oil, i had to do the same recently and this is what my local Subaru dealer reccomended. I used comma, but any good brand will do, and use semi-synthetic.

Default oil

I would personally rather drain the old stuff out and refill with new, as you dont know how long its been in there or how much debris it contains.

I have just bought a 2000 wrx wagon and discovered the same stick. Think its gear box oil but mine is also pretty low, reckon its normal?

My 2000 wrx wagon is overheating quickly during hard driving and cooling really quickly. Any ideas on what I should do? Please.

Dazzla, top it up to a bit above full, this should cover 3rd gear fully which is known to be a weakspot on that MY's gearbox
