NO EASY WAY
I'VE HAD A WRX IMPORT SINCE OCTOBER GOT TOLD IT HAS NOT BEEN TOUCHED ,,YOU CAN ONLY TAKE THERE WORD FOR IT UNTIL YOU TAKE IT SOMEWHERE TO SEE WHAT YOUR ECU IS DOING(IGNITION TIMING,AIR FUEL MIXTURE ETC)THERES NO CHEAP WAY ROUND IT UNFORTUNEATELY,NOT THAT I CAN FIND ANYWAY!

ECU is under the passenger side floor panel - Remove the metal floor panel to see the ECU, look for any stickers which may have been added by a tuner. Remove the ECU cover and check to see whether an additional 28pin Eprom or board has been fitted in the chip holder shown below -
If there is a board/chip in the location shown there is a strong possibility it has a Japanese tuner map

I don't get it.
Why run 95 at all?
If the guy is too much of a cheapskate to spend an extra 3p / litre, do you really think he's going to spend £150 on a remap? And why did he buy the car in the 1st place?
If he is ignorant of the fuelling issues walk away - buyers market
