Fuel gauge problem
I have a problem with the fuel gauge on my MY00, it sticks at about half way down, fill the tank and the gauge rises as normal.
Any ideas? Is it the gauge itself or perhaps the `thingy` in the tank thats sticking?
I`m gratefull for any suggestions,
Neil.

Would suspect it;s the sender unit in the tank that's causing the problem - and hopefully it is as it's easier to replace and cheaper. You need to get the rear seat up and you can see the white plastic 'cap' over the fuel tank - under here is the sender unit which unscrews and comes out. Should be cheap from a dealer and the best first option. But play around with your existing one - it may need a bit of adjustment (ie cleaning etc) and could then work fine. Got nothing to lose anyway...

Question based on the same kinda problem.
I can fill the tank with 50 ltrs of fuel ...... great.
The fuel gauge then drops like a stone over the next 120 miles until reading empty ....... not so great.
Did a little test the other day and ran the tank until signs of running out and I managed to get a further 170 miles out of empty !
Cant quite figure out what might be the problem.

Got to be the sender unit again, that merely sends a signal to the gauge in the dash. If its sticking or giving a duff signal it will reflect on the gauge in the dash.
Be careful when opening the plastic lid, the fumes can hit you quite hard And don't have anything electrical around!
