From previous threads it appears you have a 1995 WRX Import - you sure the lambda isn't in the headers?

Cheers

On the classics the lambda is normally in the downpipe for UK models and in the headers(manifold) on JDM models. If it wasn't connected at all the ECU would normally 'throw' a CEL code 32 for the O2 sensor.
Check the headers

It will be in the headers. The one that is missing from the downpipe is the 'cat on fire' sensor monitoring EGT- which is usually unplugged from the loom when fitting a decat d/p

The lambda sensor isnt in the zorst, its in the headers. If you look from the drivers side, down between the airbox and engine ...you should see it, with wires coming out.

It has a roughly 22mm sized nut.

alternatively, lie under the car next to the front drivers side wheel (front side), and look upwards....there is a series of pipes with a heat sheild round, the lambda can be seen poking through.

Hope that helps.

But no, without a lambda you wont blow your engine....... i was without a lambda , and only realised when i fitted an AFR sensor, and it wouldnt work cos the lambda was U/S, and how long it was like that , i dont know... Of course the engine runs better with it, or it wouldnt be there.

Note that you won't normally see the Check Engine Light while driving. The only time you might get the CEL is uphill on part-throttle when the ECU realises it can't provide the optimum fuelling for the engine under load.

As far as I know, the engine will run rich on closed-loop (part-throttle) running, as the ECU will be trying to compensate for what it sees to be a lean mix in the exhaust (low / non-existant voltage from the Lambda).

People might now start talking about bore wash..............

Thanks guys...would a missing lamda sensor cause the car to slightly over heat?? i mean my last scoobies temp gag never went above a certain point but this one goes slightly higher and then the fan turns on for a long long time, plus it drinking quite a lot of water/anti freeze
