in the market for a re-map and just would like to know what you guys and gals have put on your cars and your thoughts on them?
don't know if to go for tek 2/3 or what else is out there?
really want to go for the group buy tek 2 at PE, but if another couple of hundred quid will get me a superior map is it worth it?
the car's only got decat and filter so i guess a general map is best? bloody confused, need help

thanks

if you only have a decat and filter the tek2 will be the easiest way to go

I think a Tek3 is always better VFM! You can get the car mapped as good as it can be, to your exact requirements. Best to do everything power wise to it you are likely to first though, for maximum value.

A lot depends on what year your car is.
The tek2/3 is only available for my99 onwards.
My car is a MY98 and as such i have limited options.
I am down for the group buy as PE will attach an extra board to my
chip to allow it to be remapped using the tek2 approach.
This remap is actually more like a tek3 as it is done specificaly for my car.
I have only got a centre decat, backbox and filter on my car.
The alternative would have been a link or motec which are both alot more expensive.

The guys at PE seem to know what their doing.

Hope this helps.

Greg

greg, my cars a '99 and like you i've read that the map is a basic downloaded map to your mods and then fine tuned, is this radically different to what is done with a tek3?

AFAIK

Its exactly the same as a tek3.
I believe its the software that is used to do the remap that is know as the tek3.

The reason that i am going to PE is that this software cannot be used on an MY98 as it stands without modification to the chip.

with your mods a tek 3 will be worse but dont quote me on it, as if you add more things you will then need remaped where as with basic tek2 you have a bit more room before you need personalised map

nearly had a grasp on all this 'tek' business, now gone back to being bloody confused, not your fault guys, i'm a pleb with anything technical
think the PE group buy remap is the way forward for me, bit of a no-brainer for the price really.

I havent booked it in yet.
I will book it in for a monday in january very soon

I had it rolling roaded at powerstation a few months back.
To my surprise it gave out 238bhp with just a scoobysport centre and backbox with a green air filter

PE say a guideline gain of about 30bhp + torque.

So i should be looking at 265-270bhp
