Just had my car back after the most expensive service ever. Had to have my coils chaneged because of a misfire problem.
The car seemed fine the other day, but seems to be hesitating a bit now and then.
Doesnt feel to me like a misfire. Could it be the fuel?, as it has been in there a long time(3 weeks). And on the way home today I filled the car up with some more optimax and octane booster and first impressions seem much better.
Anyone got any ideas?.
Would resetting the ecu help?.

Just for reference its a 93 wrx.

I was just wondering if when you turn the engine of after running immediately instead of letting it cool down before switching off (ie no turbo timer) result in that when you start it up again it runs a bit sluggish for a lil while ? Just wondered ???

i always let it cool down regardless of how long the turbos been on

Was the car hesitating before you took it in for a service?

Did they change the timing belt? - It could be the one tooth out syndrome.

Maybe the spark plugs are faulty, incorrectly gapped, wrong ones etc. I'm assuming they would have changed them if the service was expensive.

Could be fuel surge or problem, something could have been tampered with and not put back 100%

Have you checked all the hoses are on fully without any leaking sounds?

Could be a sticky boost solenoid - do you have a boost guage to see if you're getting good boost? These seem to be a regular problem on some of the older scoobys.

It's very difficult to guess what it may be, without seeing for ourselves, but just some ideas to give you things to look at.

If timing belt was changed it is possible that they didn't got the correct timing.

Could also be sticky boost control solenoid (also check all hoses that are going to and from the solenoid). Next thing it could be lambda sensor if hesitation occurs in lower rpm's (from the point where you can hear turbo spinning (normally around 2800 up to 3800 where Maf takes over).

thanks for all your help guys, could be the cam belt i spose. everything else seems fine and the boost is good. its going back in monday and get sorted out. but as you can imagine i am very reluctant to pay for it.
i will suggest the cambelt and the plugs.

Wouldn't pay a penny mate.
Get them to sort it out for you, if it was perfect before it went in then it should run even better coming out.

Greet the service chap with "is your daddy in today"? that normally gets the mood set for not paying a penny.

well as much as they may have shafted it this time round they usually do a very good job. But i am still not paying for it. At least the old man has taken sympathy and let me drive the tuscan today.
