Default 08 wrx alarm

hi guys and girls,

ive just had my engine forged and I believe that my bonnet sensor may of been unplugged or broken in the process because now when I try to lock or unlock my car with the key fob it sets the alarm off. I can lock it and unlock it via the key in the door though and its fine. my question is, does anyone know where the bonnet sensor is so I can check ? and where I can pick up a new sensor if needed with the part serial number. I have an 08 wrx.

cheers

It's normally visible on the radiator shroud area when you lift the bonnet, as a small pop up button switch, easy to replace.

My MY11 has it attached to the front of the RH strut tower

EDIT:
Using one of your own images, it's in the same place

stick a tie wrap round the bonnet sensor so that its always fully compressed and try it again.

on mine the striker on the bonnet for the sensor wasnt closing the sensor down enough.

Ok mate I’ll give it a go. Problem is I can’t see if the striker is far enough down with the bonnet down, so it would make sense to try that also.

Tried the cable tie and it worked. So it’s definitely because the stalk doesn’t get pushed down far enough when I shut the bonnet. Might see if i can get a new bracket from Subaru as the current one maybe all bent out of shape and see if that works.

actually saying that I don’t appear to have a striker on the bonnet for the sensor to hit. That could be my problem. Thanks for the heads up mate.

Tried to find a pic of striker plate on mine but it's not something I've got decent pics of and the car is away at mechanic at mo

This is best i could get - basically it's a square bracket that mounts where the bonnet lifter mounts

For mine i basically packed out the bracket with foam and gaffer tape elegantly so that it closed the sensor fully

tried my best for you in this pic!

ah I see. After looking at old pics of my
car it appears that the bonnet has probably been removed and This wasn’t put back on when they took out and put my engine back in. I’ve sent a text to see if they still have it.
