Question Water leaking into bonnet alarm sensor?

I got woken several times last night by my car alarm going off.
It's happened a couple of times before. Sometime after really heavy rain, the alarm will sound.
If I disable and re-enable the alarm, I get the open door warning.
I traced this to the bonnet - if I open and close the bonnet it seems to reset the alarm and allows me to reactivate it as normal.
However I did this last night, and it only worked for about 30 mins, when it started again.
It's only happened about twice (maybe three times) in 18 months, so it's not a great issue, but it's something I'd like to look into.
Is this a known issue on classics? Is there anything I can do to protect the sensor? I can only assume that the rain is somehow getting into the sensor and setting it off.
Any info gratefully received!

Cheers.

Best thing to do is relocate the sensor....am assuming it's a pin switch on the slam panel in front of the radiator? First thing I'd do is replace the switch (less than £5) and if you still have probs, I'd get it moved elsewhere.
