Default Boost issue. 03 STI

As above.

I have a 2003 Blob STI with a 2003 AVCS STI engine, loom, ecu fitted.

now when I go on boost the turbo makes a squeaking noise briefly and the car hesitates and feels like its holding back.

I've changed the top mount hoses.

it has a crappy forge BOV on it.

It's not mapped but has the following.

forge bov
full 3" system
walbro GS340

no induction kit or anything like that

I've typed this on my phone so hopefully it makes sense.

if your running a full 3" turbo back system and a higher flow fuel pump without a remap then its going to run like crap and probably **** itself sooner rather than later.

loose the dump valve, fit a standard one and get it remapped ASAP.

in the meantime, if you have to drive it keep the bloody thing OFF boost.

I thought running a high flow fuel pump won' make a difference as the injectors won't let more fuel through than allowed.

Ran my old STI with the above plus a filter, front mount for 2 years before I could be bothered having it mapped.

I'm waiting on a standard BOV coming, and all new boost hoses. I think maybe the turbo Inlet is split as I'm hearing turbo spool with the standard Airbox.

Don't think the car will **** itself.

If it dies it dies 🤣🤣 but in all seriousness I hope it lives.

It's a road/track weekend car for me so will map it in the very near future, just need to do some more jobs to it as it's not worth mapping doing more work then paying for another map. Need to fit FMIC, new silicon inlet, stainless headers, RCM filter.

Just fixing all the **** work the previous owner has done.
Will creep it for its MOT on Saturday and back in the garage.
It's a ****e month, need to MOT my V5 Type R aswell.

cheers for the advice lads.

Yea i agree wouldnt bother with the horror stories

Wont run at its best if you got a map but it shouldl run well enough that you shouldnt have these issues.

Try a smoke test for leaks if you cant find any split hoses.

Could well be that inlet pipe to turbo.

Right lads, an update.

Been in the garage tinkering since i finished work as its MOT tomorrow.
I spoke to a mapper who told me to check the airbox fitment, as if it's not fitted correctly I will have hesitation, holding back and the squeel.
Checked the airbox and it was not on correctly, it was clipped in but with an inch or so gap, just refitted it and took the car a run and ALL ISSUES ARE SOLVED.
No squeel, hold back or hesitation, feels as quick as it did when i test drove it (when i got home i had the airbox off DOH.

Waiting on AF getting back to me with a date for mapping, I have a recirc fitted also which I got from my mate.

Crisis averted.........
