Genome guage issue / idle issue
Hi guys,
Im just a newbie (got my car yesterday) and there are a few things that arent right with it
There seems to be an issue when it comes on boost that it seems to stutter a bit and possibly boosting too high.
There is a Genome boost guage that looks to hit about 1.6 bar and there is a red light on it when you load up the turbo.
Does anyone have any manuals or know what the red light is for. (reds never good)
Does 1.6 bar seem pretty high. Its JDM model and mention of ECU3 but wasnt sure what that is
Also, do the JDM STI8s idle very low? Seems to idle about 400rpm, but doesnt sound likes its struggling, just seems very low
Heres a pic (excuse the bad quality)]

If it's mapped properly then +1.6bar shouldn't be a problem, lol my defi's show 1.72bar peak and that's an 05 WRX..! Defi's generally do seem to over-read ~0.1bar IMHO.
When you say it's got much worse what are you referring to and what fuel are you using..?
Need to know more history ie is it mapped mods etc TBH..
One other thing, that a lot of people get wrong is the tacho needle/gauge graduations below 1000rpm. The very first line is zero (where needle rests when engine is off), the next one up is 500rpm, then there are smaller 100rpm lines up to the 1000rpm line..
Quite often people think their engines idling at 3-400 rpm, when in fact it's 7-800rpm..

yeah I think I made the rev counter mistake at first.
Its at the second line up so 600rpm which is lower than I imagine it should be.
Mods, just full exhaust, ECU3 for UK fuel and induction kit
I put in super unleaded
It wont rev past 4.5k rpm now even sitting in neutral so sometimes else seems to have went wrong.
Hopefully looks like that red light is ok and I can just check what the warning limit is set to on boost (if I ever get it back on boost)

JGM told me that the standard ecu can only boost control up to 1.55 bar IIRC, so any excessive is gauge error, my Defi shows 1.7 bar, and they all over-read like this.
Mine is a touch "un-even" at high boost levels as the standard solenoid struggles to cope.

I know this may sound stupid , but have you checked to see if there's anything under the pedal, mats are a common problem..?
Otherwise, does the engine rev to 4500 OK and the refuse to go higher or does it 'splutter' it's way there..?

It was hesitating terribly, a little bit like fuel cut at times.
Got it down the garage today and its now back running. AFM and Spark plug issue, so going to get some colder plugs.
