Exclamation Boost stutter

Hi All!

I bought a 1999 Uk Turbo a couple of days ago and it was all great until last night. sitting in traffic after about an hours journey I had a check engine light flash a couple of times then go off. It hasn;t come back on since. I didn't know until researching this morning that the sequence that the light flashes in meant something so I didn't pay any attention it that.

I've driven the car about 40 mins to work this morning and didn't boost all the way on the advice of the guy that I bought it off. but when I got near work I boosted to get past a car on the bypass and the car seemed to stutter while it was boosting. The car is idling fine, there are no nasty noises coming from anywhere and the check engine light hasn't come back on since last night. As far as I can tell apart from the stuttering under boost, the car is fine!

The guy I bought it off said it might be a hose, I've checked and nothing is loose but I guess there could be a split pipe? can anyone suggest anything else I chould do / check? I want to enjoy the car and I want to boost it but I really really don't want to damage anything.

Is it worth getting it plugged in to diagnostics? is this a common problem? Where do you guys think I should go from here?

Thak you in advance for any help you can provide

You can manually read the fault codes your self, no need for specialist equipment on the classics.

I read on scoobypedia that if the light goes away then there is no fault.

Does anyone know if this is correct?

Thanks

If the CEL isn't on, it means the ecu isnt "currently" detecting any faults. But previous fault codes are stored in the SSM, try the diagnostic procedure and see what it shows up, you may find it has many codes stored, if that is the case, carry out the reset then drive the car as normal, when the CEL reappears, do the diagnostics again to find out the current code.
