rainx smearing
#1
It's been asked before but I can't remember the answer and the search facility is down. So.....
My windscreen wipers (and I think everybody's on a Scoob) lift above about 80mph. I have applied rainx which is OK but smearing is awful when the wipers go on - bit dangerous when you are going to overtake and the rainx hasn't coped with the spray off the car in front I found today.
I'd love to hear there is a simple solution........

I find if applied properly and 're-applied' regularly you never need the wipers above 60mph when you have rainex. I've seen me drive in torrential rain down the bypass without the wipers on and with perfect vision.

Its not the wipers that smear. Its the rain-x. It does work well at speed, or in heavy rain, but it is pretty crap at low speed, in very light rain. Then you have to use your wipers, then it smears. What sort of wipers do rally cars use??? Do they go fast in the wet?

The instructions recommend you use the washers if there is light spray or drizzle on the screen and this does help reduce it. Rainx works well at higher speeds in heavier rain, when it's very good.
I have no problems with the wipers lifting or struggling, up to about 90mph (as fast as I dare go in the wet with Re010s). The wipers are new, Bosch ones from Halfords and have a spoiler. Maybe the extra spoiler helps?
Don't rally cars have multiple jets actually fixed to the wipers?

I get smearing too with Rain X, thats why I stopped using it, takes a little while for it to wear off the windscreen once applied, again as the concensus has put only get smearage at low speeds, all below 60-70, which is useless at night esp down unknown roads, above that its perfect even over speeds mentioned, get the Bosch blades as they have spoilers on to stop them lifting.
