My STi 5 has just started to develop the well documented squirting of the rear washer jet under hard acceleration...

I understand that there's a plastic one-way valve in the washer mechanism that can wear and fail (obviously, the car is nearly 15 years old, now). Can anyone tell me the part number, price etc.? Any standalone pics of said item; and also of it in situ?

I assume the local Subaru dealer (Heritage Leicester) is likely to stock said part... Or are they rare as the proverbial??

Look in the boot just underneath the wiper motor and there is a pipe coming from it and then there is the valve (black end nearest the motor, mine has a direction arrow on it arrow points toward motor assembly, and grey/beige end attached to the clear tube).

Pretty sure you could just one from any motor factors or ,dare I say it , Halfords think they about £3.

Yes it has been a while hope everything is well

Yes it's just remove the hoses from both ends and replace, the hoses do form quite a tight fit though.

Ironically I may have to do mine soon as it has the same squirty problem hence why I know where it is and what it looks like lol

Out of interest, presumably said valve has some kind of fragile internal flap or membrane, designed to only open under the hydraulic pressure exerted by the pump?

Still running your lovely v.3 (or is it a v.4?) Type R?

https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...eleration.html

https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...elerating.html

Both have part numbers mentioned in them and the first one has a description of said item.

Yep still running the V4....she's got a few more dings in her though due to a pillock in a Seat and a fecking cyclist but plans are afoot to bring he back to almost factory standard

- Cheers for the links (I overlooked those when I searched - god knows how! ).

- Going back to OEM is the new modding.

- Yeah, picking up dings is hugely frustrating/****ing annoying lol. That's why I never park in busy carparks if I can possibly avoid it. Even when I do, I try to park 'far from the madding crowd' (if there are suitable lone spaces available).

So far, after 4y 1m 2d lol of ownership, I'm still ding-free...... But for how long?

It seems going wide arch with big sticky out wheels is a fad I'm glad to be ignoring.

Trust me it's getting modded just visible at a glance

She got rear ended by a **** who didn't know his ABS wouldn't kick in at very low speeds and the cyclist go into the wrong lane on a roundabout went into my side and it was my fault....*****.... however my insurers really didn't care, premium went up but by pittance I guess it's an everyday occurrence nowadays.

Parking as far away from the supermarket is fine but there is always one **** who thinks my car is lonely and parks next to it even though there are spaces much closer......weirdoes

- What is it with ***** that do that! Drives me apoplectic. *banghead*

It's the automotive equivalent of the 7-footer deciding to sit right in front of you at the cinema... Despite it being near-empty!

- You're like me: car is as modded as it can be (given the OEM engine/box)... But kept the outside as standard as I possibly could. Even reinstated the OEM bootlid sticker (although it is de-tango'd).

Additionally, there are gold 17s (to clear the 330 APs) and bumper cutaway opening for the FMIC - but with black wire mesh for a more std look. Oh, and clear sidelights (to match the OEM clear headlights).

All subtle aesthetic changes that, if the car was still made today, would now be the norm.

All that said though, I do actually dig totally contemporary stock, as the manufacture intended.
Gotta love 'purism'.

I've got none OEM wheels but Brembos are being fitted tomorrow, Genome back box and a 22B bumper although I would like an original but I've got PIAA lights there and pretty sure the OEM bumper will not accommodate them.

Think I will be upgrading to your version headlights and doing an Alcazar conversion to projectors, might even go back to orange indicators.

Might put the Type R rear quarter and boot badges on but unsure tbh.

Just replaced the little sucker lol.

Just make sure the little embossed arrow points towards the shorter, black 'to' hose i.e. mirroring the direction of the water flow.

(^^^ Teaching you to suck eggs, there. )

I got this one, from Halfords:

I haven't gone out in the car and hooned yet, but I'm sure it'll be okay.

Cheers.

...Top tip: if you're having trouble pulling off either hose, immerse the hose/valve union/s in a container of boiled water for about 30 seconds. Then grasp the valve with some mole grips whilst pulling on the hose with your other hand.

The above worked for me (it was the clear 'from' hose that was the bugger).
