Default Leaking rear washer jet under hard acceleration?

I have an STI5 Type R with a rear washer jet that leaks under hard acceleration. Basically the G-forces push the water down the hose and it dribbles out of the rear jet.

I remember hearing of a fix that can be done by putting some sort of valve inline in the hose, IIRC it was a valve commonly used in either garden sprinklers or fish tanks or something - anyone know?

Cheers

You need to mount the washer bottle behind the spray by the sounds of it, mind you, it'll come out under heavy braking then eh!!!

How about an inertia switch to energise the rear wiper each time you accelerate? Should keep the rear screen nice & clean too

Sorry!

Good answers!

Apparently this is a common (minor) problem on P1's, I've been told that replacing a small inline valve should sort it.

I think this is the valve, so I'm off to the dealers at lunchtime armed with a printout.

Iwan,

I think on the P1woc there is a part no. for the bit you need. Will need to search around for it though.

Update, I fitted the new valve last night and it's all fixed. Basically the valave has a ball bearing inside which is held against a rubber seal by a spring. It's supposed to require a certain cracking pressure to open, but my spring had corroded and the valve was stuck open.

Part number is 86634AA010, only costs about £3 so if you have a leaky rear window washer then get one fitted!

Here's what it looks like.
