Default JDM GC8 - rear washer jet sprays up the rear window when accelerating..

Something that has been irritating me for a long time now is when I put my foot down the rear washer jet pisses washer fluid up my rear window...

Not a massive problem but I just find it very irritating, especially if I've just cleaned it.

Has anyone else got this problem and how did they go about stopping it?

Car is a V4 STi Type R.

Many thanks
Ross

Put a one way valve in the pipework near the washer jet.

Make sure you fit it the right way round mind you, other wise you won't get any fluid out of the jet when you press your screen wash button.

Can't see how that will solve the problem though? You'll still need it round the way that lets fluid through to the jet, which will still cause the problem won't it?

It's just because you have too much power Ross

Trust me it sorts the problem.

If you dont believe me , get hold of one and try blowing though it the correct way, (ie the way the water should flow) there is quite a bit of resistance before you can blow the valve off it's seat.... This is enough to stop the water running through the pipe without the help of the washer pump to force it through the valve.

Cracking - thanks...

I don't suppose you supply these one way valves or have a link to one?

I hope I will soon have a lot more but will post up any developments later this month/early next!

I've had quite a few problems with it lately. I now go to APi so I actually have someone who knows what they are doing work on my car. Makes a refreshing change!

It is a long trip and a pain to get the train but David is first class and is well worth the logistical hassle!

I don't want to give too much away at the moment,

It is dependent on a few other issues that I want to sort out first. Then, depending on how much they cost to sort, I may have a substancial budget to improve other areas.

I should have some high quality bits for sale which I'll post up in a month or so...

Vague, but I don't want to go saying this 'n' that in case I can't..

Sensible to get it all in place before saying what's being done i guess. I want first dibs on your inlet manifold if you end up selling it. think it looks .

Inlet manifold will remain as is I'm afraid... although it might look 'different' (still same colour though).. Could I be anymore vague?

Barretts - thank you very much sir!
