hi every1 ...
... just recently treated myself to a MY05 STI uk car .. and was wondering do i have to run it on high octane petrol or just normal unleaded .. and what effects would it have ( apart from costing me a fortune 
) on the engine .... Paul

General rule of thumb, don`t use 95ron. Use a higher octane fuel, such as Tesco 99 or V Power.

Your car will run 'OK' on 95RON (assuming its not been modified) but to get the best out of it you definately need to run Super at least, I'm a cheapskate and use Sainsbury's (far and away the cheapest SUL) and get about 5% better economy (so worth the extra) than I do out of '95RON' (note premium unleaded at '95RON' to the relevant BS is allowed to be down to 94RON!).

shell v power racing...
just driven across europe, dont own a scooby any more as i got into motorbikes but i do miss my v5 STi type R, got a megane sport tourer tdi now...not quite the same lol...anyhow they sell 101 rated fuel here in europe. just did a slog to czech republic to see relatives and also bad news for diesel owners...they starting to put an additive in the diesel that supposed to destroy your engine over time!!!
