Change of clutch/flywheel
Hi,
Anyone have any ideas on how easy it is to change the clutch on 2.0 classic 99 wagon? Will also do flywheel while its off!
Is it best to skim or fit lightened fly wheel?
Paul

Depends what tools & equipment you have access to, its easier than doing a transverse engine/box set-up if you've had experience of that.
Have you thought about getting an exchange lightened fly from somewhere like API.

Better still, take the car to API and they will do the lot.
It is a hard job to do on axle stands, on your own etc (I have do it 4 times now) and David charges a fair rate.

You lot go on about being keen Subaru enthusiasts but every time someone asks a question you all pipe up with 'take it to API' or 'speak to API'.
Maybe Scoobynet should be renamed APIFanClub.Net??

API fan club? No, just happy customers passing on their opinions that's all.
Bonerp is close to API = makes sense.
Bonurp possibly has not done the job before, I think j sca has, so understands what a job it is, and i know API will be fair.
With that he can make his own mind up?
I guess that is why he asked in the first place for opinions.
In my limited ubaru experience, changing a transmission now is 'easy'.
For someone who has not done it before it is not, but i am assuming he would tackle it on a driveway or in a home garage.
API can fix the flywheel to taste, skim or skim/lighten/balance. They have the best clutch kits too, all one stop shopping.
I feel justified in telling people about API.

Yeah! Damn right! LOL.
Flywheel, lightened = good but ffs dont go too light. My 5.3 kg is at the limit i reckon, from my very limited but 'i know my own car' experience.
The skim/lighten/balance way may be the better i feel.
Personal preference though.
If i needed a new clutch on another Subaru (if i ever have the money for one) i would defintely get the flywheel done again.
As per 911 suggestion above, DAvid fits the awesome Exedy clutches too, so a one stop shop and you are all sorted! lol.
