oil change

Default oil change

can anyone tell me which sensor is the crank sensor , due an oil change but not sure which is the cranksensor i have to dissconect in order to carryout oil change . thanx

Crank sensor is underneath the alternator & above the oil pump, above the pulley....

left a bit, right....shoot anyone remember golden shot?

Thanks for the memories 'old Knowlsey' BUT Nah !! Before my time !

The cam angle sensor does the same job and is easier to get to. Behind the N/Side upper cam belt cover, close to the battery. looks identical to the crank sensor.

Gives the oil a chance to fill all the pipes and oilways that drained when the oil was dropped. Before the car engine starts.

It gives the engine an easier life and makes sure oil is where it's needed before firing up in anger.

For an even easier life the spark plugs can be removed to reduce the compression force on the bearings.

Search for a recent thread by Minor Threat on oil changes, and the definitve thread where Greasemonkey spells it out!

Do you turn the engine over a few times with this dissconnected, Then reconnect and fire up???

disconnect te sensor and then start the engine until the oil sign on the dash goes out.
Then reconnect and fire up

As David MY99 says above, spin the engine over with out it starting for several bursts of say 5 seconds, until the dash light goes out, then connect up the sensor and off you go!
