Really want flames
I really want flames, but as I understand it, there are 2 options. De cat the exhaust and get an atmoshperic dump valve, or the cheaper and one that causes alot of debates............get a flamer kit.
I eventually want to go along the de cat exhaust route, but is the non standard dump valve essential. Aparently on my UK300 model the dump valve is bolted to the intercooler???? and is therefore quite an expensive piece of kit for a dump valve.
Want to obviously weigh up the difference in price etc.
Any suggestions please?

Everyone i know have had there cars de-cated when having the flamer kit, when me brother had his done the bloke said it would be better if you decat the car. Someone also told me that it could damage the cat but not to sure as the sparkplug is drilled into the backbox.

A new Dump Valve needn't cost a lot....i went for Bailey MotorSport DV12. Took 20 minutes to unbolt the old one from the intercooler, unclip from the now defunct pipe(bung provided in kit)and bolt the new one on...sounds top and only cost £100...anyone want a stock MY03 WRX recirc d/v barely used???

WRXPETE, don't suppose you have any pics do you please?
I was told the ones that bolt onto the intercooler were the Blitz type ones which are approx £250+.
I'd be really interested in the baileys type if that's not the case.
Thanks
Steven

please bare with me on this question, may be a bit stupid.......
My my99 is completely standard apart from a different back box, scoobysport bb.
What would be needed if say, I wanted to get the odd pop and bang from the exhaust pipe when changing gears?
My friends skyline does this, he has dv and some other bits and pieces.
Also Im not 100% sure but when the exhaust is running this way is it running rich in petrol? is it a considerable difference?
I'm not interested in flames, just the odd gf iritating noise maker :P

I get the odd flame on gear change....especially if I change just after the turbo comes on boost (~3-3500rpm). I have a UK MY96, Revolution De-cat dp and 3" system and a Forge VTA dv.
