Flame grilled
#1
hi guys
just had my centre section fitted today(thanks pete & SS) and all i can say is "talk about putting the icing on the cake or what)
the sound is great(not too abstrusive from inside), it seems to burble in a lower tone from about 3500rpm, and sounds even more tunefull.
performance wise there is a further improvement, 2nd gear too hard to notice but in 3rd & 4th gears it pull harder
then theres the flame
change up on the rev limiter and if you get right you will hear a pop and out comes a orange and blue flame. trouble is its addictive, especially in tunnels
the one question i would like to ask you is whether i should reset my ECU again
RB5 with full SS system, ITG,Octane and APs

The "flame" feature is responsible for my horrendous MPG
Reason being that as you said its certainly addictive. If I hold the revs at 3750 ~ 4000 for anything more than a couple of seconds it pop several times before the engine slows down. The revs physically bounce as the pops occurr
My brother did some testing a while ago on a private quarry road, practicing standing starts for Hillclimbing in my Subaru.
Watching the blue flames out of the exhaust as it hit the limiter was fantastic...followed by the yellow lick of flame on the overrun. It was dark which made the flames much more visable.
We both grined for yonks.

RB5 Scott - saw at SS yesterday - thanks for letting me out/off the ramp.
Your car looked cool. I've got the D/pipe too if you want to drive one with that let me know. I'd reset the ECU, can't see the harm!
cheers

Pictures...sadly no
You'd need a really fast film for dark conditions as you'd never see the blue flames if a flash was used.
Might try it using a tripod ~ just for research you understand.

Hi there.
I was there having my AP 6pots discs and pads replaced as they had warped and taken the pads with them. I think I was unlucky and the original discs were from a bad batch. Anyway SS fault reported Saturday, replacements fitted Wednesday so pretty good service from SS, thanks Pete, Steve and all.
My car has Leda B which works well, especially with the Pwerstation Bumpsteer mod. Other mods include D/P rear box with magnex centre (with resonator box), Samco intercooler hoses. I liked your AP's, it would be interesting to compare once mine are bedded in! If you want to try the Leda in my car let me know - you are more than welcome, definitely helps braking!
