PS3 Speeds.
Just a quick one and tell me if I'm being thick!
BT have sorted our Broadband out and we are getting just under 8meg on the laptop and iphone's but the PS3 is only getting 3meg! I can't wire it to the home hub as the hub is in the hallway by the main phone socket.
It's an old 40g monster but does this make a difference
Homehub settings are correct and port forwarding is on for the devise
Any tips as I thought it would be quicker

Does sound odd as wireless should be able to keep up. The only thing I'd try is to plug it into the router and test that.
I think my newer shape PS3 gets more than that at home but I may be wrong.

I have 2 fat PS3's and a slim, for some reason when using WiFi. The slim outperforms the fats by a massive amount. When downloading map packs for example, the slim has finished downloading and installing, before the fats have got to 10% download. No idea why as they should both be 801.11g

Can you do a Internet connection test on them and let me know if there is any difference?
From what I can see the internals are the same spec on fat and slim. There are lots of things on the net but most of them involve changing ip addresses and stuff which really we shouldn't need to do

Have you tried homeplugs as always better than wifi. That said Ive had some issues with mine that I didnt realise so just run an extended Cat5 cable at the moment but will look to sort out some proper wall cabling at some point.

What you should have done is use some ethernet over powerline adaptors.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ZENNOX-TWI...item20be1ae67d
Saves trailing wires round your home They work fine on extension leads, double adaptors etc etc.
