It is better than Word, really.

You can convert them to Word files if you like.

The program you are looking for is Writer from boomer's link.

http://www.software4students.co.uk/default.aspx

Microsoft Office Professional Plus (Word & Excel & Powerpoint and much more) £38-95 including vat and delivery instead of the RRP of £429-99. All you need is a distant relative at school or university.

Rasher,

if you absolutely need Microsoft Word, you can purchase a fully legal copy of MICROSOFT Office 2010 Home and Student (which includes Word, Excel, Powerpoint and OneNote) from PC World for less than seventy quid. The licence also allows you to install it on up to 3 machines, so that works out at less than twenty four quid a pop!!!
