unison is a good one for downloading software from nzb's.
If you like emulators mame os x, nestopia and sixtyforce are good and all run at full speed.
caffeine is very useful as it stops your mac going to sleep which can be annoying when watching vids and stuff, and coconut battery is really good for monitoring your batterys performance

Sabnzb for newsgroups it's free unlike unison.

Not heard of caffeine so I'll give that a try.

Vlc player to play all your video files.

Really depends on what you want and need.

Cyberduck is good for ftp and other protocols. PureFTPManager for a decent FTP server. DiskAid for accessing an iDevice, most useful if the device is jailbroken. fseventer if you want to see where applications are writing files. ScriptDebugger if you want a powerful applescript system, far better than the build in Script Editor (though if you have Xcode you can possibly do far more, certainly using interface builder to have a graphical applescript)

1PasswordPro for password management, will sync between mac and iDevice too.

Tricky one that. Virutalbox that JC mentions is free whereas the others are not bit have 30 day trials. I have both and vmware edges slightly ahead fir me as it covers OS versions that parallels does not, specifcally netware 6.5

VirtualBox works great with Windows 7 and it's free. Make sure you install Guest Additions as soon as Windows finishes installing.
