PS3 Keyboard / Mouse?
Hi Boys and Girls,
I used to love the FPS games on the pc, however the funds and flat wont really run to a new state of the art pc and finding somewhere to put it.
My issue with the FPS on the PS3 is the control pad - I much prefer using a combination of keyboard and mouse.
Are pc keyboards and mouse compatible with the ps3, and more importantly can you opt to use these instead of the joypad on games?
Cheers
Fitz

Yes you can use a keyboard and mouse with the PS3: Knowledge Center | Support | Playstation.com
I think UT3 is the only that can be played with them. There is always the FragFX . . . IGN: SplitFish FragFX PS3 Review

I was trawling the web, but all the posts it found dated back to 2007 or so.
I honeslty dont think I would enjoy the fps on the ps3 without the keyboard and mouse. The PC user in me doesnt like the joypad.
Maybe I should just bite the bullet and get a new gaming pc?

Hell yes, a new gaming pc wont cost the earth and be much more versatile!
Thought about a second hand rig? My local shop has the followoing spec for 400 quid;
thermaltake mambo case,
decent overclockable motherboard, cant remenber the name!
Core 2 8500
4 gb corsair ram
4850 x 2 in sli
750 w coolermaster psu
seagate barracuda hd
no monitor though (but that suits you?)
That would **** all over a ps3, and doesnt cost much more!

Yeah I'm thinking more that way now.
To be honest I'm a bit out of my depth with pc specs, as its been a while since I bought one. Looking on overclockers website you can spend £400 - £thousands, and I'm not sure when necessity is overtaken by just being silly with my money.
How does this look - and if you think something better or cheaper is available can you point me in the right direction? "Titan Vulcan" AMD Phenom II X3 720 Black Edition 2.80GHz OC 3.30GHz DDR3 System
The games I used to run and will probably run most of will be FPS, and the odd online rpg.
Cheers

I was the same for years, but since moving virtually exclusively to PS3 for gaming, I have found the joypad, well, a joy. I suppose it's like anything, you have to get use to it. OK, for actual aiming of your gun, it ain't as accurate, but it is much better for moving about, and acceptable for aiming, and everyone is using the same thing so you are at no disadvantage.
£400 for a second hand rig is way over the odds IMO, unless you want to play all your games at maxmum settings you can get something new for less than that.

I've got a decent PC rig (2x overclocked 8800GTX's in SLI, a quad core 9650, 1TB of fast hd space, etc), and I have to say that for gaming, my 360 and PS3 offer a much more pleasurable experience. Hardly use the PC for gaming any more at all.

I personally prefer the 360 to the PS3 (got both, but the 360 has got a far better controller and online service in my opinion - performance wise, there's little difference between the machines).
On the consoles, I play pretty much all genres (racing, fps, rts, rpg, fighting, strategy, arcade etc). I personally don't find the controls inferior at all. They are just different. I can aim just fine in fps games. One you learn how to use them, it just becomes second nature

The last game i bought was Army of 2, now whilst the game and graphics are pretty good, the cumbersome nature of that poxy little joypad drives me insane. So after playing it for a few hours the first night since then I cant be bothered.
Any reccomendations for games outside of the fps genre?
